tcworld conference 2008: empolis:Content Lifecycle Suite Version 3.4 provides plenty of new functionalities

(pressebox) Gütersloh, 14.10.2008 - At the tcworld conference 2008, empolis will provide insight into the newest empolis:Content Lifecycle Suite (e:CLS) version 3.4. The component content management system was expanded considerably in the area of rendition support and authentication.

From version 3.4, e:CLS supports management of graphic objects in a variety of renditions. Each individual graphic can be created in any desired format (rendition. The ideal graphic format is provided for any selected application. Metadata defines the intended purpose. By these means, a graphic object for a web publication is provided in bitmap format with 90 dpi and a high resolution bitmap for print. The original graphic is a CAD drawing. Thanks to a configurable conversion process, any desired alternative rendition can automatically be created from the original graphic. When modifying the original, both a manual and an automated update are provided for the corresponding renditions.

Other JAAS compliant authentication services can be integrated with version 3.4, in addition to the existing identity verification via LDAP compliant directory services or directly via e:CLS itself. Cascading combinations are possible. This is especially useful when external users cooperate on a project and don’t have a regular account with the organization’s directory service. An authentication component of this type allows for local authentication without integration into the system.

Further new features: e:CLS 3.4 supports not only JBoss, but also the BEA WebLogic Application Server. Furthermore, Adobe FrameMaker 8 and JustSystems' XMetaL (XMAX) 5.1 editors can be integrated. XMAX is a fully integrated component in the e:CLS workbench.
