Huf: The success story of a TPMS pioneer

Huf: A driving force behind tire safety for 20 years

(PresseBox) (Velbert, )
What hit the market as a safety innovation 20 years ago is today a successful product that drivers do not want to be without. Since 1997, Huf Electronics Bretten (formerly BERU Electronics) has been supplying direct measuring tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) to a growing number of automotive manufacturers, making it one of the most important suppliers in this product segment.

"In 20 years, our product has not only improved significantly, but the design has also changed", says Ralf Kessler, TPMS Development Manager at Huf, referring to sensor generations 1 through 5, which have become smaller and smaller while performing better and better. Direct monitoring systems display the actual pressure in each individual tire, so that the driver can react immediately in the case of pressure loss. Huf's tire pressure sensors are particularly robust in order to withstand extreme environmental demands. The sensors can not only handle temperatures between -40 and 150 degrees Celsius, but also mechanical loads of up to 2000 G. Such excellent performance is required in particular by the sports car manufacturers Huf supplies of their products at speeds over 300 km/h.

A winning strategy

As ever, the two most important features are innovation and quality. In addition to numerous individual customer sensors, we also offer a universal sensor for the spare-parts trade. It can be used for all common tire pressure monitoring systems. In terms of quality, the Bretten specialist continues to bet on German manufacturing. Particularly noteworthy is the outstanding, high-precision fit of the sensors. "Our sensor design fits all manner of rims perfectly thanks to the optimal screw connection concept. Not least because of this, Huf received the Red Dot Design Award for its sensor concept," says Ralf Kessler.
