Das Institut für Informatik und Gesellschaft der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität veranstaltet ein Seminar für Studierende verschiedener Master-Studiengänge. Das Seminar behandelt den Umstieg auf erneuerbare Energie aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und kombiniert Vorträge mit fachübergreifenden studentischen Arbeitsgruppen. Ziel ist es, ein gemeinsames Handlungskonzept zu erarbeiten. Bis Februar 2012 wird jede Woche ein Gastredner zu einem Aspekt referieren. Den Anfang macht Dr. Christoph Wittwer vom Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme (ISE) mit seinem Vortrag "Smart Grid Technologien für die Realisierung der Transformation des Energiesystems". Das Smart Grid, auch intelligentes Stromnetz genannt, ermöglicht die kommunikative Vernetzung, Steuerung, Überwachung und Optimierung der Energieversorgung.
