Andritz VA TECH HYDRO received an order from electricity utility Elektroprivreda Serbia on 21 November 2007 for the complete modernization of the Bajina Basta hydropower plant. The contract value is approximately 65 million EUR.
The Bajina Basta power plant on the river Drina secures approximately 12% of Serbia’s total electricity production with renewable energy from hydropower. Besides the complete modernization of the electro-mechanical equipment, the output will be increased from 95.4 MW to 108 MW for each of the four turbine generator units. This corresponds to a total output increase of approximately 50 MW or 13%.
