The CiA 447 CANopen application profile is dedicated for open networks in passenger cars. In September, CiA organized an information event for the German police presenting the CANopen profile and its possible applications in police cars and other cars for organizations with security tasks (e.g. ambulances and firefighters). Some carmakers (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, and Volkswagen) presented first gateways compliant to CiA 447 and HMI (human machine interface) concepts. More than 60 participants discussed with OEM experts the future trends of police cars, e.g. fleet management. The exhibited cars were equipped with CiA 447 compliant roof-bars and radio devices.
