EUMETSAT Council progresses towards the future

EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, held its 76th Council meeting in Darmstadt, Germany, on 5 and 6 July.

The Council progressed with the approval process for the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation (EPS-SG) Preparatory Programme, where the sum of contributions from Member States now exceeds 90 per cent. Council agreed to authorise the start of the EPS-SG Preparatory Programme activities in August once a funding level of 95 per cent is reached.

The Council also decided to include the Ice Cloud Imaging Instrument in the payload of the second line of Metop-SG satellites gn rywsqj bnvt jxdmvvrilicl.
