Hamamatsu Photonics entwickelt CCD Bildsensoren für die Hyper-Suprime Cam des Subaru Teleskops

Hamamatsu Photonics KK entwickelt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), Universität Osaka, und der Universität Kyoto, CCD-Bildsensoren für die Verwendung in der Hyper-Suprime Cam, einer Ultra- Weitfeld Primärfokuskamera, des Subaru-Teleskops. Dieses befindet sich auf dem Gipfel des Mauna Kea, Hawaii.

Im Vergleich zu den CCD-Bildsensoren der ersten Generation der Suprime-Cam, zeichnet sich die neueste Entwicklung durch eine erweiterte Empfindlichkeit im nahen Infrarotbereich und die gleichbleibende Produktqualität aus.

In Serie hat Hamamatsu 116 dieser großflächigen (3 cm x 6 cm) back-illuminated deep-depletion CCD-Bildsensoren für dieses Projekt hergestellt.
