Durch das kompakte Design geht die Installation und die Konfiguration schnell von statten. Der Zugriff auf die Daten erfolgt schnell und problemlos, die Menüführung kann in deutscher Sprache eingestellt werden. Der AIS-Transponder empfängt alle Informationen von Schiffen, die mit AISTranspondern der Klasse A oder B ausgerüstet sind, ebenso von Landstationen, Navigationshilfen, AIS SARTs sowie Text- und Sicherheitsmeldungen.
Der CSA-300 sendet auch AIS-Informationen im NMEA-Format an weitere Geräte, z. B. AIS-kompatible Radaranlagen, Seekartenplotter oder Navigationsprogramme.
