Traditionell ziehen frischgebackene Doktoren der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg zum Denkmal des Namenspatrons der Universität am Alten Markt. So auch in der vergangenen Woche(06.08.2008) die Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieurin Ulrike Hempel nach der Verteidigung ihrer Dissertation an der Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik. Die 30-jährige Wissenschaftlerin untersuchte einen neuen akustischen resonanten Messfühler (Sensor), der mechanische und elektrische Eigenschaften dünnster Schichten misst. Die Ergebnisse ihrer Forschungen sind Basis für hochempfindliche Sensoren, mit denen Toxine (Gifte) oder Biomoleküle wie beispielsweise Krankheitserreger in geringster Konzentration in Wasser oder anderen Flüssigkeiten nachgewiesen werden können.

Betreut wurde Ulrike Hempel am Institut für Mikro- und Sensorsysteme der OVGU von Doktorvater Prof. Mniwu Sobbmhscg.
