In the past, direct online measurement of crucial parameters was impossible, and exact compositions and concentrations of rolling oil emulsions were neglected. Working in tandem to develop a solution for online control were producers of rolling oil, steel manufacturers, and SensoTech.

Steel Process Lubricants of Houghton, Germany evaluated SensoTech's advanced LiquiSonic system, which has been in use at Wickeder Westfalenstahl since the beginning of 2005. The system is installed within the CVC-6-reversing reducing rolling stand. Since the LiquiSonic installation, it is clear that inline control improves surface quality and final product cleanliness.
