Nur mit Fingerabdruck zum Arbeitsplatz ?

Auf dem Markt werden vermehrt Zeiterfassungssysteme angeboten, die biometrische Daten der Beschäftigten nutzen. Insbesondere sogenannte Fingerprint-Zeiterfassungssysteme kommen zur Anwendung.

Der Thüringer Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit (TLfDI) weist darauf hin, dass die Erhebung, Speicherung und Verwendung biometrischer Daten Eingriffe in das Grundrecht auf informationelle Selbstbestimmung der ArbeitnehmerInnen darstellen, die datenschutzrechtlich nicht gerechtfertigt sind. Für die Zeiterfassung gibt es andere, datenschutzgerechtere Lösungen. In der Regel ist daher die Verwendung biometrischer Merkmale zu diesem Zweck nicht erforderlich, daher nicht verhältnismäßig und mithin nach § 32 Abs. 1 Satz 1 BDSG unzulässig.
