(pressebox) (London, 2011-09-13) Elliptical Mobile Solutions (EMS), the innovative vendor and market leader for micro-modular data centres, today announced it has signed a Sales Representation and Reseller agreement with UK-based Daxten for the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) markets. This agreement is mutually significant as EMS expands its international footprint and Daxten expands its portfolio offering of comprehensive data centre infrastructure solutions. With immediate effect, Daxten offers the stand-alone micro-modular data centres of the EMS R.A.S.E.R., R.A.S.E.R. HD and C3-S.P.E.A.R. For the first time the technology allows data centre carriers to plan and extend their infrastructure “on demand” with an even smaller form factor than was previously offered by containerised data centres. The USP of the EMS solution relates to its unrivalled simple planning, configuration, implementation and maintenance when compared to traditional data centres (TDC). For instance, the footprint of the EMS modular extendable units is up to 75 percent lower than a TDC. With the enormous advantages of space, cooling efficiency and power consumption the TCO is around half that of a TDC. These factors seem to have been decisive for HP to include EMS into its AllianceOne-Program. With this cooperation and the allocated resources, EMS and its EMEA partner Daxten are in the best position to respond to all customer demands to provide turn-key micro-data centres with the best server, storage, network and software components.
“Daxten has significant experience in the DC markets with high-level strategic accounts and best-practice techniques to distribute our EMS solutions across the EMEA regions”, said Don Kennedy, Senior Vice President of International Sales at Elliptical Mobile Solutions. “Existing and prospective customers of Daxten and their resellers will gain profit from higher flexibility and efficiency regarding the planning, configuration and capacity extension of data centres – without suffering from restrictions in terms of footprint. The main advantage for customers when using EMS technology is that they can reduce their operational data center costs and TCO by more than 50 percent.”
”Due to the partnership with EMS we are able to offer comprehensive solutions for the accelerated and simplified set up of new data center environment, for the very cost-effective dismantling and reconfiguration of existing DC infrastructures at any size and each TIER class”, said Chad Rislov, Daxten Founder and Managing Director. “With the EMS technology we extend our product portfolio and knowhow in the fields of airflow management, cooling optimization and physical power distribution to complete data centre infrastructure solutions with the smallest form factor, highest energy and operation efficiency in the market.”
The new Daxten portfolio includes the EMS R.A.S.E.R., a 42U (36U Horizontal 6U vertical) 12 kW re-locatable enclosure; the C3-S.P.E.A.R. a 24U, 2.5 kW (standard cooling) or 6 kW (dual cooling) mobile or re-locatable enclosure; and the newly introduced R.A.S.E.R. HD, a 42U, 20 to 80 kW high density enclosure. All include a welded steel exterior frame and interior rack chassis with onboard cooling, security and fire suppression. Enclosures are vendor neutral and can be populated with the servers, storage devices, network switches, UPS, KVM switches, PDUs that best meet the needs of the client. The R.A.S.E.R. or R.A.S.E.R. HD can be operated as a comprehensive stand-alone data centre or pod with 200 or more units, which is modular expandable. Both can be set up or retrofitted to TIER I to IV data center architectures. The R.A.S.E.R. and R.A.S.E.R. HD are NEMA (IP54) class and can be installed indoors or outdoors where there is power and network connectivity.
The time frame for planning, equipping, shipping, implementing and setting up the EMS enclosures takes eight weeks compared to months or years for a TDC. Additional units can be shipped, clustered and up and running within days. Because the units are mobile, relocations can be done very quickly and clients can have their micro-modular data center operating again in minutes. This offers a higher degree of flexibility and savings when compared to traditional or containerised data centres.
The C3-S.P.E.A.R. is available with two environmental packages: NEMA12 or IP52 to operate indoors with dust and humidity protection; and NEMA4 or IP56 to operate indoors or outdoors with wind, dirt, rain, ice and humidity protection. The enclosure is equipped with “In Motion Engineering”, a patented adaptive suspension system that protects rack-mounted equipment from vibration and shock sustained in a mobile environment. The compact size and scalable nature of the C3-S.P.E.A.R. makes it an affordable data center closet, remote office or colocation solution.
