(pressebox) (Düsseldorf/Essen, 2017-07-04) would the premier global fair, SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN, be without the latest value added study from the German Welding Society (DVS)? After four years, the specialists from all over the world have got their hands on the new work encompassing over 170 pages. Right on time for the press conference for SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN from September 25 to 29, 2017, DVS introduced its study entitled "Macroeconomic and sectoral value added by the production and application of joining technology in Germany, in selected countries in Europe as well as in the EU as a whole" to the journalists and the visitors on the premises of Messe Essen GmbH on June 20th.

With the aid of a weld, a stick electrode and the comic called "The Underwater Welder", Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking, DVS General Manager, explained the economic significance of various joining technologies in Germany and in selected countries in Europe to the guests in a graphic way on the basis of the latest figures. In this respect, he pointed out the pleasing value added contribution made by JCC (joining, cutting and coating) technology amounting to Euro 27.3 billion for Germany which is thus 19 % higher than Europe (EU28) and has a nearly 45 % share of the total European value added.

The value added contribution made by the manufacture and application of joining technology in Germany, in selected European countries and in the whole of Europe is established in the study. The objective of the study is to evaluate all the available statistical information in the form of a summary in order to estimate the value added contribution made by joining, cutting and coating technology. In this respect, the latest study referred to the period from 2012 to 2015.

On the occasion of every SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN, i.e. every four years, DVS commissions the value added study from the Ruhr Research Institute for Innovative and Structural Policies (RUFIS) in Bochum. Analyses of the value added and the employment have been made since 2001 and have been extended even further over the years.
