(pressebox) (Düsseldorf, 2012-03-27) The Norwegian certification company Det Norske Veritos (DNV) has recently subjected nautical simulators made by Rheinmetall Defence Electronics to a series of stringent technical tests. The examination encompassed re-certification of the Ship Handling Simulator ANS6000, Ship Engine Simulator SES 7, Liquid and Dry Cargo Handling Simulator LCS 7 / DCS 7 and the Safety and Security Trainer SST 7 as well as the first certification of some newly developed systems and models.

Rheinmetall is especially proud of receiving the first approval of its slow-speed engine model MAN B&W K98 MC for the SES 7, the gas tanker models LNG and LPG for the Cargo Handling Simulator and the new 3D Safety and Security Trainer SST 7.

All of the aforementioned simulator systems either meet or exceed the highest DNV requirements and have therefore been approved with a "Class A" ranking in accordance with the current DNV Standard for Certification of Maritime Simulators 2.14, January 2011. The standard is based on the requirements of the STCW Convention, Regulation I/12 and includes the new 2010 amendment which came into effect in January 2012.

This positive outcome confirms Rheinmetall's reputation as one of the finest producers of nautical simulator systems worldwide.
