(pressebox) (Düsseldorf, 2017-02-19) Modern military platforms and systems are increasingly complex. Safe, effective operation of such high-tech assets requires well-trained soldiers and operators in order to ensure combat readiness in asymmetric and conventional warfare. Cost-effective training solutions with potential for future growth throughout the entire lifecycle are paramount for military customers. Visitors to IDEX 2017 can learn more about Rheinmetall’s cutting-edge training technology. On show is the Leopard Gunnery Skills Trainer (LGST) for the Leopard 2A4 version, which has won customers in Canada and Indonesia.

The LGST is a reconfigurable, modular training system for gunnery crew and combat training at platoon level and above. Adaptable to virtually any armoured and armed platform, it is based on the Group’s long-standing experience in designing and manufacturing gunnery and combat simulators for the Leopard MBT and other platforms. The core of these simulators consists of the powerful tactical simulation system "TacSi Reloaded" and the latest image-generation technology, which meets the highest demands in terms of performance, realism and interoperability. A further advantage of the Rheinmetall system: several simulators can be networked to enable tactical training at platoon and company level.

The armed forces of Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Canada and Indonesia already place their trust in Rheinmetall technology for training their Leopard 2 crews. The Group’s Simulation and Training business unit supplies and modernizes a variety of gunnery and combat simulators like the LGST and driving simulators such as the Driver Training Simulator (DTS). Here, the emphasis is squarely on gunnery and combat training for tank commanders, gunners, loaders and drivers. A further advantage of the Rheinmetall system: multiple simulators can be networked together, enabling tactical training at platoon and company level.

These orders underscore once again Rheinmetall’s role as a leading supplier of high-tech training solutions, while simultaneously highlighting the German Group’s unsurpassed expertise in main battle tank technology and related training systems and services.
