Hans Kaufmann, Director, EB RFID Solutions, says that one of the key questions today is how to deploy RFID in a scalable manner. "Many industrial customers are currently starting projects and making plans for bigger rollouts. They have concerns on how they can manage phased RFID deployments so that the coming new rollouts can be based on the earlier phases without a need to re-invest everything. The new EB Identification network offers ultimate tag acquisition combined with unprecedented reliability, redundancy and readiness for scaling, providing exactly the answer for these questions", Kauffman highlights.
The EB Identification Network consists of intelligent identification devices including the EB RFID Network Controller and EB RFID Readers. In the offering EB combines its deep Radio-propagation, wireless systems management and RFID infrastructure know-how. These capabilities are realised as technologies like Facility SoundingTM and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), which provide the foundation for RFID systems with high performance and guaranteed reliability in even the most challenging conditions.
Over 20 years of radio technology experience has provided EB with excellent understanding of radio propagation and air interfaces challenges. "Our background in radio propagation has helped us create Facility Sounding™. The Facility SoundingTM deployed in the EB RFID Controller and RFID Readers measures and analyses the interferences in the radio environment. Hence, the system uses actual measured data to dynamically readjust - not estimations or floor plans of the status at a given time", explains Antti Sivula, Senior Vice President, EB Wireless Sensor Solutions. EB has been working with many different RFID technologies and decided to launch the EB Identification Network for UHF frequencies based on the advancement of RFID standards and market.
The EB Identification Network is launched during the RFID Journal Live Europe in Amsterdam (Nvember 6-8, 2007) and RFID Salon, Paris (November 22-23, 2007).
