The step into a new segment: thyssenkrupp carbon wheels for the Kawasaki Z900RS

(PresseBox) (Kesselsdorf, )
  • thyssenkrupp serves café-racer segment for the first time
  • Expansion of product line by new wheels size
  • Kawasaki brand portfolio up to four models
While Kawasaki revives its tradition of the 70s and their ‘King of Cool’ model Z1, thyssenkrupp Carbon Components provides aftermarket customers with the possibility to further individualise their Z900RS with unique braided carbon wheels.

These innovative wheels made of carbon fibre for the Kawasaki Z900PS not only create a stylish counterpart to the retro optics of this Japanese four-cylinder machine but additionally represent a ground-breaking novelty for thyssenkrupp Carbon Components’ portfolio: the first 17x5.5 inch rear wheel. At the same time, it is the first model in the café-racer segment to be equipped by the German carbon wheel manufacturer. The selection of the Kawasaki Z900RS is based on the international market demand as well as the increasing registration figures in 2020. thyssenkrupp Carbon Components now offers its braided carbon wheels for a total of four models of the Kawasaki brand, the ZX-10R, ZX-10RR and ZX-10R SE can already be equipped with the ultralight carbon accessories.

The general advantages of carbon wheels are just as significant for the newest member of the carbon family: reduced weight, as well as increased strength, are only two of the numerous superior characteristics. The latter results from the seamless manufacturing process and the foam-filled hollow spokes. The wheels for the Kawasaki Z900RS are, like all the other thyssenkrupp carbon wheels, road-legal worldwide and can be purchased through the manufacturer’s official website or the known dealer network.

CEO Dr Jens Werner: ‘The development and positioning of our carbon wheels are always exciting, just as the entry into a new segment. Within the Superbike category, we feel right at home, even though the development there is continuous as well. At the same time, we consider the market conditions and input from experts and our partners which resulted in the decision to supply the Kawasaki Z900RS with our unique carbon wheels. Our customers and those yet to become such can be looking forward to more novelties to enter the market within the next months.’
