Partnership with emteria
emteria has customized its Android-based operating system emteria.OS to the hardware of the VMT9000. As a multi-OS hardware platform, the devices can now be optionally ordered with a current Android 13 in addition to Windows and Linux operating systems.
The emteria.OS operating system combines the advantages of Android with the high data protection and data security requirements of the industry.
Features of emteria.OS
emteria.OS was developed in Germany and has a special focus on data protection. Therefore, no data is transferred to Google.
Each Android version of emteria.OS has security updates of up to 3 to 5 years. This provides incredible investment security as the system is continuously updated against security gaps. If required, upgrades to recent operating system versions can be carried out easily via OTA updates or USB. Updates to Android 14 and 15 are already planned for the VMT9000. The VMT series will thus be supplied with security updates for at least 7 years.
emteria.OS includes industrial features like a built-in kiosk mode, which helps to limit the functionality of the VMT9000 to a single app or to multiple apps, additionally fixed IP addresses can be assigned besides DHCP. As a company, you have the option to set up your own app store using F-Droid and manage the app selection.
VMT9000 series: Reliable and durable in the harshest environments
VMT9000 vehicle terminals are designed for use in the harshest environments in logistics, warehousing and on agricultural and construction machinery. The terminals are available in both 4:3 and widescreen formats. Due to the wide input voltage range of 12 - 48 VDC, customers can use vehicles with different voltage supplies without a separate power supply or voltage converter. A USV function ensures uninterrupted operation for at least 60 minutes (at room temperature and 20 Watt). RFID user recognition protects the terminals against unwanted access to all data.
Optionally, the vehicle terminals can be equipped with resistive industrial or capacitive multi-touchscreen. The sunlight-readable display provides readability in direct sunlight without any problems.
Poor transmission and reception conditions are a well-known problem in industry. If the standard internal WLAN antennas are not sufficient, the VMT9000 solves this problem with the additional option of connecting an external WLAN antenna (optionally also via WWAN and GPS).
