Am 24. Juni startete vor dem Lübecker Holstentor bereits zum neunten Mal die Glückstour des Vereins "Schornsteinfeger helfen krebskranken Kindern". Mit bislang über einer Million Euro gesammelter Spendengelder für krebskranke Kinder gehört die Glückstour zu den größten privaten Hilfsaktionen in Deutschland. Mit den Spendengeldern wurden inzwischen viele Initiativen, Elternvereine, Kliniken und Forschungsprojekte unterstützt, um krebskranken Kindern und deren Familien zu helfen. Die Strecke der diesjährigen rund 1.000 km langen Glückstour 2014 führte von Lübeck über Hamburg, Bremen, Langenhagen, Wolfsburg, Tangermünde und Potsdam bis nach Berlin, wo am 30. Juni etwa fünfzig radelnde Schornsteinfeger/Innen unter großem Applaus vor dem Reichstagsgebäude in Empfang genommen wurden. Auf der diesjährigen Glückstour konnten eingegangene Spenden aus dem Jahre 2013 in Höhe von 140.000 Euro verteilt und neue Spenden für die Glückstour 2015 eingesammelt werden. Wiederholt mit von der Partie, auf der letzten Etappe von Potsdam nach Berlin, trat auch der Olympiasieger im Gewichtheben und AFRISO Markenbotschafter Matthias Steiner, wieder kräftig in die Pedale. Dazu Matthias Steiner: "Kinder, die unter der Krankheit Krebs zu leiden haben, nach besten Kräften zu unterstützen, ist einfach eine sinnvolle Sache. Der Kinderklinik Heidelberg habe ich schon zweimal einen Besuch abgestattet und die Kinder freuen sich, wenn man ihnen etwas Gutes tun kann." Der beliebte Gewichtheber hilft der Glückstour nicht nur durch sein sympathisches Wesen, sondern auch durch seine Überzeugung, mit den radelnden Schornsteinfegern gemeinsam für denselben guten Zweck fahren bzw. etwas tun zu können.
