ELCON supplies free optical Home Gateways to accelerate FTTH roll-out

ELCON @ FTTH Conference 2011, Milan - ELCON Booth S08

(PresseBox) (Milan/ Hartmannsdorf, )
ELCON today announced a new market initiative to accelerate FTTH (Fiber to the Home) roll-out in Europe. Under the new and unique market program which will be launched during the FTTH Council meeting in Milan, Italy (9-10 February), ELCON plans to partner with leading FTTH network providers in Europe to test customer acceptance under new, changed and significantly improved business case conditions.

As part of the partnership, ELCON will supply the required optical Home Gateways based on its Blue Wing FOS 100/200 series free of charge for one month. The preferred customer base to be addressed is seen in network providers who are capable to connect more than 1,000 customers within one month.

“Our customers often tell us, that the subscriber take rate and market roll-out would accelerate significantly if the business case parameters improve”, said Lars Bahlmann, Business Line Manger at ELCON’s CPE Business Line. “With this unique program ELCON will successfully contribute to the improvement and we can test the market”, Bahlmann continued.

ELCON`s Blue Wing Fiber Home Gateways are the best performing devices on the market and perfect for huge fiber roll-outs. With multiple-flavored LAN interfaces, true Fast Ethernet / Gigabit Ethernet switching Engines, Dual-Core Processor Power, CATV modules including unique AGC technology (Automatic Gain Control) and layer-three routing those Home Gateways are setting standards for today and for the future. ELCON’s Home Gateway family offers a rich feature set including Voice over IP (VoIP) for POTS and ISDN, WiFi and optical interfaces for SFP, MSP and WDM.

After the successful completion of the program ELCON plans to publish the results.
