- Arvato Systems will secure the connection to the telematics infrastructure for the clients of ZIS GmbH
- Arvato Systems and its partner companies will act as one of the first service providers as part of the TI roll-out, providing all services
The Bertelsmann Group IT specialist that services the healthcare industry was commissioned in 2013 with setting up and operating the central telematics infrastructure (TI) for the trial run of the eHealth card. Now, in cooperation with the two partner companies secunet and eHealth Experts, the moment has come for the next step in digitalization: the physical connection of all dental offices and clinics to the telematics infrastructure by means of special VPN (virtual private network) access and a connector.
Arvato Systems and its partners will provide ZIS GmbH with all services and components for VPN access. This also includes implementation of the software, provision of the connectors, support for ZIS GmbH (via a service center), and the corresponding logistics services. Arvato Systems operates all of the necessary components and products in its own data centers in Germany.
For the project partners, an important part of the implementation is user training, for which they will provide an e-learning concept specially developed by the Bertelsmann subsidiary Relias. For a period of at least 12 months, participants can use and further develop their own virtual classroom for interactive training on the subject of telematics.
“It was especially important to us to support users and service providers in the practices as part of this project. The e-learning approach introduces new digital possibilities and is a key component of our service package,” says Jan Wemmel, Head of eHealth at Arvato Systems.
Telematics (a combination of telecommunications and computer science) and the IT infrastructure used to this end represent key components of digitalizing the healthcare industry. Connecting to the telematics infrastructure will be obligatory for all service providers that provide care for legally insured persons by the end of 2018. The VPN access service enables access to this infrastructure. Secure connections are set up from the connectors of the service providers to a number of central VPN concentrators by means of this infrastructure. The access is secured by certificate-based authentication on both sides.
