Optimized robotics
With the example of a six-arm welding robot at AUTOMATICA, Baumüller shows how the use of robots can achieve the highest precision with Baumüller technology. The use of Baumüller control and regulation technology has significantly improved the dynamics, precision and therefore the quality for the end customer. By offering the suitable software modules, efficient components such as the new multiple axis controller b maXX 5800 and its extensive safety concept, the automation specialist from Nuremberg provides everything that advanced robotic solutions require.
Visitors can also find out how a solution for handling systems can make it easy to integrate optional and retrofittable systems in their facilities. The exhibited concept for 3-axis handling offers web capability, maximum flexibility and a short commissioning time with open interfaces and pre-programmed software modules. Thanks to the particularly intuitive operation provided by the Baumüller visualization, the initial training periods are very short and the probability of errors drops considerably. The plug & play solution is an example of an efficient complete system for existing equipment as well as new machines.
Baumüller introduces a new shelf-control system for logistics specialists. Baumüller employs telescopic axes and central drives with a central efficient control system at the shelf framework. This eliminates charging times for the shuttle and increases the dynamics of the system, the maximum loading capacity is used and the shuttles - which can be moved simultaneously and independently - enable fast handling with optimal operating paths.
Efficient with software libraries
The extensive Baumüller software kit is continuously updated with new functional modules. It therefore includes validated modules for basic functions as well as complex movements, for example through coordinated motion. Baumüller combines the individual modules into convenient technology packages so that complete systems, such as handling units, can be implemented quickly, efficiently and without any programming effort. Only a few input data are required to adjust the machine parameters; here integrated rules and algorithms prevent errors that might otherwise be created during the project generation.
In Baumüller's comprehensive engineering framework ProMaster, mechatronic elements from a catalogued selection may be integrated into the machine topology along with software modules to create a clear structure. Here too the accuracy is ensured by simulation technologies.
In addition to these functional modules, Baumüller offers software solutions for the optimal handling of variants and engineering, for drive dimensioning and the calculation of energy costs.
Combined axes
In terms of hardware, the Nuremberg-based company introduces its new multiple axis controller b maXX 5800, into which the user can integrate up to six axes. The use of this new device is especially worthwhile in robotic and handling applications that require a high degree of compactness. Users have absolute flexibility in selecting the performances of each individual axis, which enables them to assemble the perfect device for their own applications. This prevents expensive oversizing. Additionally, the combination of several axes in one device eliminates the downtimes of fieldbuses, thus guaranteeing highly synchronous communication with controller clocking at 62.5 µs.
Successful team
With the new series of HMIs and the new box PCs, Baumüller presents an ideal combination for visualization and control at Automatica. The new Baumüller HMIs are available in the three variants basic, standard and premium and from 4.3 to 15.6 inches. The premium version is equipped with a glass front and touch capacity. The series includes Windows- as well as Linux-based devices. The integrated remote maintenance function is particularly interesting and eliminates the cost of separate hardware. The HMIs create the perfect combination with the new box PC b maXX PCC 04, which is scalable, flexible for expansions and offers a large amount of interfaces.
