The 44th BITZER Cup will be kicking off this Pentecost. The long-standing company is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigeration compressors, and will be helping to organize the international TuS Ergenzingen’s under-19 tournament again this year. The athletic event always features top-notch youth teams from Germany and many other countries.
Budding VfB soccer players will be taking part
The VfB youth team will be competing too. The last time the Stuttgart team played in Ergenzingen was 2009. The VfB age-group that won the German B-Juniors Championship in 2013 will be competing in the coming Pentecost tournament. Other teams from all over the world will be playing alongside VfB, ensuring a high caliber of play: these include Red Star Belgrade, a top European team. Club Deportivo Chivas Guadalajara from Mexico is flying in, as is Ajax Cape Town, the first South African club to be represented. The Wolverhampton Wanderers is a long-standing English club competing this year. One of the teams representing Germany will include the future Bundesliga players of 1. FSV Mainz 05. These strong teams certainly won’t make it easy for FC Zürich to defend its victory of last year. Eight soccer teams from five countries competed for the coveted BITZER Cup last year – and played some impressive soccer in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
