Simplifying communication
The access market is filled with different electronic offline locks from various manufacturers, all of which use their own proprietary methods. The OSS Association has the objective “to develop, communicate, and market standardised protocols, components, and coding, as well as the associated security-related hardware and software, within the security industry”. Standardisation is a strategic operational tool that saves time and money and ensures competitive advantages. Thus, “OSS Standard Offline” was developed as a first standard, with which locks produced by different companies all read the same authorisations from a smart card and interpret them in the same way.
“Right from the start, BlueID had the idea of standardisation for its cloud-based Access as a Service (ACaaS®) solution", says Philipp Spangenberg, CEO of BlueID. “That’s why we are so excited to be a part of this and be active on a larger scale.”
