Wieland joins the department from the communications team in Munich where he has worked on a wide range of product communications and brings a wealth of experience, particularly in technical matters. With his engineering background and a recent focus on BMW EfficientDynamics, alternative powertrains and on the international launch of the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, Wieland is perfectly placed to help build a wider understanding of the company's new technologies and vehicle concepts in the UK.
Wieland's brief will encompass all aspects of BMW and MINI product communications and he will lead the teams on both brands, reporting to Graham Biggs, Corporate Communications Director.
On 25 August Janis Prescott will also return to the department as MINI Media Relations Manager following her maternity leave. Dan Connell leaves the department after three years of excellent work on MINI, particularly this year through the brand's 50th birthday celebrations. We wish Wieland and Janis the best of luck as they take up their new posts and Dan well as he pursues a career outside BMW.
In other news, Gina Barnes tied the knot earlier this summer to fiancé James, and is now Gina Finn. Gina has also been promoted to Media Events Manager, having taken on responsibility for all BMW and MINI UK media launches. Gina can be contacted by telephone on 01344 480626 or by emailing gina.finn@bmw.co.uk
