The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has recently announced, that the United Arab Emirates have won the bid for hosting the Asian Cup 2019. The country in the Gulf region will host the continent’s most important competition, aside the Asian Games, for the second time.
During the tender process for the AFC Asian Cup 2019, BTD supported the UAE Football Association (UAE FA) with Abold GmbH towards their application process under the guidelines of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA. BTD consulted the UAE FA regarding a targeted topic and content structure within the Bid Book in the field of information and communication technology and overtook matters in the subchapter “Information Technology & Telecommunications”. Furthermore, BTD delivered recommendations with regards to solutions and services, which would potentially be implemented in the future for all facilities connected with the AFC Asian Cup 2019.
Designated Venues are, above others, Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium and Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium and Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Ain as well as Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Having contributed to the winning Russian World Cup 2018 bid book, this is the second successful bid book for a major tournament in a row which BTD helped to design.
