“Fuels of the Future” from 18 – 19 January 2016 in Berlin

France is the Partner Country of the 13th International Conference on Biofuels

(PresseBox) (Bonn, )
The nomination of France as the partner country is a special highlight of the 13th International Conference “Fuels of the Future” which will be held in Berlin from 18 - 19 January 2016. France is Germany's most important partner when it comes to biofuels in petrol and diesel. French bioethanol producers have a clear leadership position in the European Union due to continuously increasing sales of SP 95-E10 and E85. French companies in the biodiesel sector are also experiencing growth.

Several presentations will address the general conditions for future mobility with biofuels at the opening session on 18 January 2016. One of the speakers is Xavier Beulin, president of the French farmers association FNSEA (Fédération nationale des syndicats d`exploitants agricoles), who will talk about “Sustainable agriculture as the basis of a sustainable supply of raw materials for biofuel production”.

In a special forum dedicated to the partner country, Kristell Guizouarn from the Avril Group, the French leader in biodiesel, will talk about the French market for biodiesel and how it is connected within Europe. Luis Da Silva E Serra, General Secretary of the French sustainability scheme 2Bsvs will discuss biofuel certification in France. Dr. Angelika Gabor will present the renewable energy strategy of a mineral oil company from the perspective of the French company TOTAL. Sylvain Demoures, General Secretary of the SNPAA (Syndicat national des producteurs d'alcool agricole) will report on development opportunities for ethanol in France.

Sylvain Demoures emphasises that naming France the partner country for sharing experiences in the biofuels industries – i.e. bioethanol, biodiesel and biomethane – is particularly significant:
"We are pleased that the organisers chose France as the partner country and we will take advantage of this invitation to inform visitors about our political framework and development prospects. Biofuels are subject to strict sustainability criteria in France. Which is why we welcome the opportunity to share information about practical experiences with European-wide and internationally valid certification schemes with participants from other countries. In the European Union, France is the biggest producer of bioethanol followed by Germany in second place and Spain in third. The fuel SP 95-E10 which was introduced in April 2009 and corresponds to Super E10 in Germany, accounted for 32% of the petrol market in 2014. Sales of E85 are continuing to grow and Volkswagen introduced the Golf MultiFuel E85 to the French market this summer.”

In a total of 14 forums and one panel discussion, market developments, current research results and practical experiences with existing and new biofuels will be presented over the two days of the conference. Once again, the organisers expect more than 500 participants from 30 countries. The specialist conference is a central meeting point for sharing information and experiences with German and international representatives from the realms of politics, industry and science.

Under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the 13th international conference “Fuels of the Future” 2016 will be hosted by the German BioEnergy Association (BBE), the Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants (UFOP), the German Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe), the German Biofuels Industry Association (VDB) and the German Biogas Association. The conference is supported by Rentenbank.
