PARIS AIR SHOW 2011

Ready for global challenges: strong presentation of the German Aerospace Industries' Association (BDLI) at the Paris Air Show 2011

(PresseBox) (Paris/Berlin, )
With a total of 56 companies exhibiting on a joint stand organized by the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and another 23 BDLI member company displays on separate locations, German's Aerospace industry is showing a very strong presence at this year's Paris Air Show. Thus, it impressively underlines its ambition to participate in the current, significant upswing in civil aviation and in future space and defence programmes.

With a total turnover of 24.7 billion Euros and employing a direct labor force of around 95,400 in 2010, the branch looks back on a decade-long track record of growth, even throughout the latest phase of economic crisis. Combining almost all strategic key technologies, it also supports Germany's international technology leadership and export success.

Dietmar Schrick, Managing Director of the BDLI enlarges on the business objectives of this year's participation:

"With new markets emerging for civil aviation and new challenges rising in defense and security in various continents, competition within industry is becoming global. Both for OEMs and aerospace suppliers, Paris Air Show offers excellent possibilities to systematically enlarge business networks, to intensify existing business relations and to optimize supply chains. This is essential in order to master new and upcoming programs, for example A350 or A320 NEO and other future challenges linked to eco-efficient flying and carbon-neutral growth of global aviation. There are no better platforms than leading international aerospace exhibitions to do so. Among the Big Three worldwide, Paris Air Show is surely the one with the biggest international reach. As a consequence, about half of our national aerospace companies are present in Le Bourget".

Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V.

The German Aerospace Industries Association (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. - BDLI) and more than 190 members represent the interests of an industrial sector, which owing to international technology leadership and worldwide success has become a significant driver of economic growth in Germany. The industry's results gained in research and development and its broad technological know-how are also used in many other industrial sectors. Thanks to its strategic importance and its large contribution to added value, the aerospace sector - unlike almost any other industry - creates and safeguards highly skilled jobs in Germany.

Communication with political institutions, authorities, associations, foreign representations in Germany is a major task of the BDLI. The association also offers its members a variety of services in Germany and abroad. The BDLI is officially accredited to the German Bundestag where it performs specific, legally embodied tasks. The BDLI is a member of the European umbrella organization ASD, Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe, and the Federation of German Industries (Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie - BDI).

BDLI is brand owner and co-organizer of ILA Berlin Air Show, which will take place next time at a newly-built exhibition space near Berlin's new airport from September 11 to 16, 2012.
