Thicker layers mean longer tool life
PVD coatings are noteworthy for being exceptionally hard - tools coated with them can machine even demanding substances reliably and in large quantities. Layers produced using the PVD process are normally applied at up to about 3 µm. But in tests, layers of 6 to 8 µm provide substantially better protection: doubling the thickness of the coating can often also double the working life of the tool.
Process more steel and cast iron parts with HYPERLOX®PLUS The coating material HYPERLOX®PLUS is a composite with a high aluminium content. Thanks to its exceptional hardness and smoothness, materials such as steel, alloyed steel, stainless steel and cast iron can be machined effectively whilst providing cutting tools with optimal protection against wear.
