The AirID 2 Mini is a small wireless smart card reader in the elegant design and size of a car key. Smartcards are globally certified and the "gold standard" for strong authentication, encryption, signature and identity theft protection. Companies and authorities in particular use smart cards for secure identification and sustainable protection.
With AirID 2 Mini, anyone can now use their smart card wirelessly on their keychain, without any cables or cumbersome handling of tokens and devices. The additional AES-256 encrypted Bluetooth 4.2 connection with the computer, tablet or smartphone provides real freedom and strong protection.
The AirID 2 Mini is the little brother of the successful AirID, which is already used by thousands of companies and authorities. The AirID is tested by the German Federal Office for Information Security and approved for VS-NfD (Classified Information - For Official Use Only) with the mobile App SecurePIM. The BSI approval has also been applied for for the AirID 2 Mini and is expected for Q3/Q4 this year.
The AutoLock functionality already known from AirID, which automatically locks the computer when the user leaves, is of course also integrated. This improves the protection of confidential data and increases GDPR compliance on the fly.
Due to the common platform of the AirID 2 family, all AirID 2 models may also be used mixed, i.e. you can use different AirID 2 models on one computer, tablet or smartphone. Of course, WINDOWS, macOS (Q4/2019), Apple iOS, Android and Linux are supported.
The certified JAVA Smartcard (JCOP) supplied with the AirID 2 Mini meets the strictest security guidelines. If own smart cards will have to be used, the AirID 2 Mini supports practically all usual cards such as CardOS, STARCOS, TCOS, CAC, PIV and others in ID-000 (Mini SIM) format. The built-in NFC antenna even supports special cards with dual interface, e.g. for access control systems, payment, etc.
The modern platform of the AirID 2 allows multiple weeks of operation without recharging and enables upgrades and function extensions via software update. Thus, every company is permanently prepared for the future and the user is happy about automated security and protection "in the background".
