The new Smart Card microSD combines a powerful, Common Criteria evaluated crypto processor with a conventional flash memory, thus allowing digital key pairs (RSA 2048 Bit) and certificates to be generated and stored directly on the card.
With these features, the card provides a solid basis for a variety of security solutions in the field of mobile communications, as it also allows smart phones and PDAs, among others, to be integrated in PKI systems with maximum security standards. User data and e mails can be securely encrypted; all critical interfaces, drivers, applications, and functions of the terminal device can be configured to be tamper-proof, or blocked altogether if required.
„With the new Smart card generation we are taking advantage of the latest advances in component miniaturization,“ explains Dr. Paschalis Papagrigoriou, the CEO of the Nuremberg-based certgate GmbH. „Users benefit from additional flexibility because they have twice as much storage space available. Now they are able to store even more data directly on the card, securely encrypted.“
