The negative consequences of climate change are becoming increasingly visible. Therefore, a good climate management and a close cooperation between the companies and the municipalities are very important. Therefore, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management launched the "KLIMAfit" pilot project. The project aimed to provide participating companies and craft enterprises with an initial introduction to the topics of climate protection and climate neutrality. The project also worked out greenhouse gas balances and action plans for each company to help them reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. CHT Germany GmbH prepared a greenhouse gas balance sheet for the fiscal year of 2019 for the Dußlingen plant, the CHT Group's largest production site worldwide with an annual production volume of around 50,000 tonnes. From this balance sheet, the company is now deriving individual and targeted measures for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, such as the installation of several photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the production halls and warehouses. For this, CHT is one of seven companies from Tübingen and the region to receive the "KLIMAfit Betrieb" award.
The project represents an important component of the climate protection campaign "Tübingen macht blau" (Tübingen aims to getting greener) and contributes to achieving the city's climate target. The companies are thus making an important contribution to getting Tübingen climate-neutral by 2030.
The final event of the KLIMAfit project took place on 30 May, 2022 in Tübingen's city hall and was opened by Mayor Boris Palmer with a welcoming speech.
