By means of a fundamental overhaul of the material concept and production processes involved, Johnson Controls has succeeded in greatly upping the perceived value of the door trim. Developed from the very beginning for these processes, the components are capable of fully exploiting their respective advantages. Applied in targeted fashion, the materials enhance this effect. Topgrade TEPEO 2® foil, with its appealing haptic properties, renders the high quality standard visible and feelable. The foil is deep drawn and foamed with the substrate of the door trim, with the foil material displaying impressively uniform and consistent grain formation and a detailed reproduction of the grain's structure.
The foil honored by the jury conforms exactly to the contours of the given tool. The grain maintains roughly the same depth everywhere, even when the foil is stretched over a 90° angle. The grain's enhanced strength allows for creation of thinner films. As a result, the outer radii of the deepdrawn foils are not just smaller and more defined. The lesser thickness of the material likewise reduces the overall weight and thus fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as well.
The product's outstanding features are achieved by employing special polymers and a crosslinking process that Benecke-Kaliko AG masters as sole foil manufacturer. This crosslinking secures the grain structure to the film surface, giving it the superb stability it displays in the deep drawing process.
