Daxten offers 2 new “ServerLifters” for transporting and lifting heavy IT equipment in the Data Centre

Leading Data Centre supplier extends its ServerLIFT portfolio with new automatic and manual lifting solutions

(PresseBox) (London, )
Moving IT equipment with a weight of up to a quarter of a ton in the data centre and being able to lift it to the upper parts of racks is certainly “no walk in the park”. It is also not an isolated task as in today’s, dynamic server room and data centre environment, IT equipment has to be changed, supplemented, relocated and reconfigured ever more frequently. This procedure always represents a high risk of injury for the data centre and facility management staff as well as a potential danger of damaging sensitive and valuable IT equipment – IT staff were constantly lifting and risking injury to themselves as well as equipment damage until Daxten introduced the automated lifting solution for heavy IT equipment named ServerLIFT at the end of 2011. Now, the NEW battery operated ServerLIFT SL-500X and the manual ServerLIFT SL-350X complete the serverlifter solution portfolio. The new systems will be shown at Data Centre World being held at Olympia National Hall, London on the 29th February and 1st March. (Daxten Stand E60)

The heavy duty ServerLIFT SL-500X is an electric lifting truck for the safe transportation and easy integration of servers and further IT components into the cabinets within the data centre. It is capable of moving and lifting up to 227 kilograms of IT equipment to any location within the Data Centre. The load can be lifted automatically to a maximum height of 2.4 metres and installed at any RU level of a server rack. The whole lifting procedure takes only 60 seconds. The telescopically extendable platform with side loading capabilities allows the operator to work from either the left or right hand side of the unit.
With a width of 60 centimetres the ServerLIFT SL-500X is very compact and can be easily navigated through doorways, narrow and even contained data centre aisles. Its high degree of maneuverability is given by an instant locking option for the front wheels, which allows it to rotate on its axis to any degree and into the smallest of spaces. The leak-proof AGM battery offers approximately 8 hours of continuous use.

The manual and cost effective ServerLIFT SL-350X offers the capability to lift up a maximum load of 160 kilograms and is ready for use within minutes. Heavy and bulky IT devices can be moved safely and securely on the manually extendable platform to any cabinet or rack in the data centre. Small data centre aisles or doorways are no problem for the SL350X lifting solution. After arrival at the target rack, one single operator locks the front wheels and rotates the lifter, until the ideal alignment and shelf position for the integration and installation of the IT equipment into the cabinet is reached. With the hand crank the IT components are lifted vertically to the required height, so that the servers can be horizontally inserted via the extendable platform into the free U space of the rack. This means the final rack mounting and cabling requires fewer personnel and eliminates potential injury.
