Der Deutsche Journalisten-Verband hat die EU-Justizminister aufgefordert, in ihren Beratungen über die europäische Datenschutzrichtlinie am heutigen Freitag die Belange der Medien in vollem Umfang zu berücksichtigen. Auf europäischer Ebene müsse sich das so genannte Medienprivileg durchsetzen, das die deutsche Datenschutzgesetzgebung auszeichne, forderte DJV-Bundesvorsitzender Michael Konken. Dessen wichtigster Bestandteil ist das Tabu der Redaktionscomputer für den Staat und seine Behörden. "Für den Informantenschutz in den Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union ist es unverzichtbar, dass die kommende Datenschutzrichtlinie klar definierte Ausnahmen für Medien enthält", sagte Konken. "Die Daten in den Redaktionsrechnern gehen weder Ermittlungsbehörden noch Datenschutzbeauftragte etwas an." Von der Recherche bis zur Veröffentlichung müssten die journalistischen Daten vollständig geschützt sein. Der DJV-Vorsitzende forderte die Justizminister zu einer einheitlichen europaweiten Regelung auf. "Die Freiheit der Recherche und der Schutz der Informanten sind zu wichtig, als dass sie ins Ermessen der nationalen Regierungen gestellt werden dürfen."
