Dr.Web für Dateiserver soll unter dem Betriebssystem Novell Netware für einen höheren Scan-Durchsatz sorgen und Virenbedrohungen effizient aufspüren. Dabei unterstützt Dr.Web 5.0 für Novell Netware alle bekannten Formate der gepackten Dateien und Archive mit beliebiger Rekursionstiefe. Nach Angaben des Herstellers soll die aktualisierte Antiviren-Engine, die verbesserte Dr.Web Heuristik sowie die einzigartige Technologie Origins Tracing auch in der Lage sein, unbekannte Schadsoftware schnell und verlässlich zu erkennen.
Im Zuge der überarbeiteten Version wurden Verbesserungen beim Verschieben verdächtiger Dateien während des Scannens "on the fly" und das Abbrechen des Scannens beim Aufruf des Logs vorgenommen. Darüber hinaus wurde die Länge der Nachricht mit Virusangaben an Workstations vergrößert.
