deZign stand for a electronic display with zero energy consumption. The application possibilities are various – as digital timetable at stops, as information for events or as signage for advertisement. Especially for traffic management systems the displays can be used as digital timetable. There is no costly paper exchange at timetable or route changes. The timetables can be updated with the push of a button from a central where minimal power is required. To display fixed content there is no need of any energy. Public transport companies are not only able to reduce their operating, service and maintenance costs. Also the timetable change can be realized even with smaller adjustments. In a pilot project with the public transport provider of Dresden (DVB) the first digital timetables are getting tested since December 2013. Two more displays systems will follow contemporary and the tests will continue for two years.
The display system deZign is available either in a plastic case or a stainless steel case and thus suitable for in- or outdoor use. Due to the acryl- or laminated glass variant the displays are absolutely undestructable. Depending on customer request an individual print on the glass can be made. deZign convinces through its high resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels (full hd) with sharp display on a visible surface of twice 217 x 163 mm. In the meantime there are colored displays, but the shades are more soft and light. A series production of deZign is planned for the third quarter of this year.
In cooperation with Photon Meissner Technologies GmbH dresden elektronik presents another application possibility at the Intertraffic Amsterdam. In an emergency-information-system deZign is used to display additional information, e.g. city maps, further transport connections or also current hotel recommendations.
