The conference program will address specific application areas of thermal spraying (such as the automotive industry or aviation) as well as certain processes (for example HVOF/HVAF, cold gas spraying, suspension spraying and many more).
New to the program are a large number of events that are also designed for industry outsiders and newcomers: the exposition, the “industrial forum” and a forum, called "Thermal Spray in a Nut Shell". Comprehensively and without obligation, interested parties are invited to learn about thermal spraying capabilities and opportunities. Thermal spraying processes are just part of this year’s offering, which also features cladding and additive manufacturing.
Another highlight, especially for students and prospective scientists, is the “Young Professionals” session in the afternoon of the conference’s first day. Here, students describe their conclusions from academic projects or research work. The specialist audience will vote on the quality of the presentations and the winner will receive the “Oerlikon Metco Young Professionals Award”. The “ITSC Best Paper Awards” will also be awarded.
This year, the ITSC focuses not only on trade visitors, but also explicitly targets visitors from other industries. "The ITSC is and remains a specialist conference with high scientific standards," says Dipl.-Ing. Jens Jerzembeck, head of the "Research and Technology" department at DVS and member of the ITSC program committee. "However, it is precisely in this environment that it is important for us to attract people who may not yet be very familiar with coating alternatives – users who are looking for new solutions and are open to different application options."
ITSC – the International Thermal Spray Conference and Exposition will take place from May 4 to 6, 2022 at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) in Vienna. It is organized by DVS – Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. (German Welding Society) in cooperation with the ASM International Association.
