The numerous international visitors, among them the largest book publishers and printers of the US and Europe, were impressed and convinced by the overall digital concept and the machine’s capacity and flexibility. The quality of discussions and talks conducted during the show and the number of upcoming fixed appointments clearly underlines this feedback.
Olaf Dreger, Director Product Management of E.C.H. Will, the global market leader in the converting of single sheets, is excited: "With our experience in single sheet cutting, collecting, and handling, we know the easiest process for compiling a book. The feedback on the DCbook during the drupa was overwhelming! We are looking forward to the numerous upcoming follow-up meetings and projects."
Combined inline or near-line with a digital printing system and binding line, DCbook offers an integrated process from the digitally printed web to the finished book and thus provides the base for a totally new business model for book production. Single sheets, e.g. no folding, no turning bars, speeds up to 300 m/min (1000 ft/min) and an output of up to 12,600 books/hour allow for a productivity at the same level as conventional offset printing. Even small runs can be produced efficiently and cost-effectively thanks to fully automated setup processes.
