Looking back: effective retroactively to January 1, 2012, the "Enterprise Solutions" division of Attensity Europe GmbH was spun off and became the newly founded "Empolis Information Management GmbH" with headquarters in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The step in this direction was the logical result of experiences gained on the market at the time. A tendency toward divergence in its offerings between the two entities became clear over time: Attensity Europe focused on social media analytics and multi-channel customer engagement solutions. On the other hand, large organizations and public institutions utilize Empolis solutions for automated analysis, interpretation and processing of the rapidly growing amount of unstructured information. In the course of a management buyout, the Empolis Information Management GmbH shares were acquired by the four acting managing directors, Dr. Christian Schulmeyer, Dr. Peter Tepassé, Stefan Volland and Dr. Stefan Wess.
Since the spin off, Empolis has placed its business strategy focus on Smart Information Management. Dr. Stefan Wess, CEO, explains: "The motto, 'the right information, at the right time, to the right person, on the desired device' summarizes our vision for sustainable information management for companies. In order for them to be able to make better decisions faster, it's essential to provide decision-makers with real time processing of the growing amount of data with continuously improved analyses, and to deliver that data to all devices. Smart information management is the unique combination of content management and knowledge management all wrapped up in an integrated solution."
Empolis' outstanding positioning in the areas of content and knowledge management has been confirmed by the market with it being listed on both prestigious lists, 100 Top Companies in the Digital Content Industry and KMWorld's 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management, at the same time. "These awards, and especially the positive feedback we receive from our customers, give us the clear indication that we are right on track," states Wess, confidently. "We are pursuing sustainable and value-oriented corporate development. Our priorities lie in growing our existing business that has traditionally proven very strong and on attaining ambitious goals with our new customer base. Business in the public sector has shown particularly positive development in recent years and also promises further potential for growth the near future." The company is expanding its focus on cloud services, specifically in the areas of software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).
