The sensor is from Awaiba and can be combined with a camera board from Phytec.
With a resolution of 2048 pixel the smart camera reaches a line scan rate of 19,5 Hz. Higher line scan rates are also possible, because the ROI (region of interest) is located in the camera. The data has to be digitalized quite fast to extract the data from the camera. Also for a higher data rate, the sensor will be readout in multichannels.
The line scan camera allows a continuous as well as a triggered image capture. Additionally the camera is equipped with a HDMI connection for a fully digital transfer of the result data.
Because on the smart camera with the Linux operating system runs the EyeVision image processing software. And because the new release of the EyeVision software fully supports the Linux systems, the complete graphical user interface is available for the user. In addition the smart line scan camera makes it possible to optain the evaluation data directly from the camera, without a PC as an insertion.
With the EyeVision software the user can create inspection programs without programming skills, just by the drag-and-drop function of the user interface. The combination of EyeVision software and smart line scan camera can be used for surface inspection of materials such as glass, paper, wood, fabric or steel in high resolution and without interruption.
The inspection of wood for example requires a correct recognition of the wood characteristics or rather "wood defects", especially in the industrial handling and processing. The line scan camera captures, segments and classifies the relevant wood characteristics optimally and therefore ensures a consistent quality.
