Fujitsu Helps Schools and Businesses Cut IT Costs

Multi workplace computing optimized for Windows MultiPoint Server 2011, delivers improved performance and flexibility

(PresseBox) (Regensdorf, )
Fujitsu today announces multi workplace computing with Windows MultiPoint Server 2011, ideal for cost-conscious educational organizations and businesses that want to help maximize the number of end-user systems on a budget. Providing a desktop computing experience at a fraction of the cost of individual desktop PCs, Fujitsu's multi workplace computing offering enables up to 20 users to connect to one server or PC. The Fujitsu PRIMERGY MX130 server and ESPRIMO P700 PC are now both optimized for Windows MultiPoint Server 2011, offering a ready-to-run solution with high performance.

Findings from a recent Microsoft commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting reported that educational institutes around the world are still struggling to provide enough in-classroom technology. Windows MultiPoint Server technology reduces technology costs up to 66 percent by lowering costs of hardware, energy and maintenance.1

According to the commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting, The Total Economic Impact of Microsoft Windows MultiPoint Server 2011: «All over the world, ministries of education want universal access to modern computing technology for their nation's students. Government mandates for universal student access to computers, however, are seldom accompanied by all of the funds required in order to reach students with the hardware and software that are necessary to support national economic and technical achievement and competitiveness.»1

Tackling exactly that problem, Fujitsu's solution is ideal for supervised or educational computing environments. Multi workplace computing enables supervisors to monitor thumbnails of all active desktops, with the option to zoom in for a closer look on any individual display. Supervisors can also share their own desktop with all other users, enabling easy walk-throughs or tutorials.

Fujitsu has ensured that both the host models have the system performance to cope with running up to 20 simultaneous desktops. Organizations can choose either the PRIMERGY MX130 or the ESPRIMO P700 as the host depending on their needs; both are pre-installed with all the software needed for a multi workplace computing solution, and optimized for Windows MultiPoint Server 2011. For companies looking for expandable performance, the PRIMERGY MX130 provides enhanced memory and hard disk drive upgrade options along with high availability features like 24/7 operation.

Dieter Heiss, Head of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions says: «"Fujitsu makes multi workplace computing on a tight budget possible without the drawback of performance limitations. Even when all access devices are connected at the same time, users won't notice any slowdown in performance. With multi workplace computing we're delivering a technology solution that removes the barriers to computer-aided learning in the classroom, by providing the same user experience as with a standard PC, but at a fraction of the cost.»

«Teachers and school administrators continue to face the tough realities around budget constraints, but are determined to provide access to technology that helps students thrive in the classroom, » said Chris Phillips, general manager in the Windows Server and Solutions Division at Microsoft Corp. «Fujitsu's hardware using Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 address this challenge, giving teachers and administrators a way to increase technology access while helping to drive down costs.»

Fujitsu's multi workplace computing offering is available immediately across the CEMEA&I (Continental Europe, Middle East, Africa & India) region. Pricing varies according to specification and country.
