The protection of digital identities (employees) is extremely important in companies. The definition, maintenance and checking of roles and workflows within all parts of a company structure are the basic preconditions for security, transparency and comprehensibility in relation to processes, access and identities. After different scandals, these requirements have now become obligatory for companies listed on the stock exchange in America in accordance with the principles of Sarbanes-Oxley. Nowadays it must be possible to block an identity at the press of a button or to remove it completely and provably from a whole system in order to guarantee protection of the data and identities. On the other hand, it must equally be possible to actively switch a new employee on all available systems immediately.
In combination with a hardware token, such as a smart card in the form of an employee’s identity card, every employee now has simple, provable and checkable access to the required systems and data within a company in accordance with his intended role and the workflow concept behind it. The smart card creates unambiguous allocation of the cards used with user identity via features which cannot be changed or copied. Such an unambiguous feature is cryptographically secured and read by the card with the help of SmartID and can be assigned to a particular user or a role used by a user as part of a registration process.
With standard and comprehensible management of employees in the different systems distributed throughout a company, administration costs fall, productivity rises and data protection is increased. By means of authentication using a smart card infrastructure, fun communications has created the ideal basis for the integration of Identity Management in the company.
