The conference has moved to Barcelona due to the confirmation that the G-20 Summit will take place in November at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. It will be hosted at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona (CCIB) in Spain.
“In 2010, we focus on making the successful transition from recovery to growth. Twelve months later, the challenges for IT leadership are even greater — requiring IT leadership to re-imagine how new technologies can be embraced and used for competitive advantage,” said Debra Logan, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner and chair of the event. “Gartner analysts will help delegates re-imagine a business structure in which information users are simultaneously creators and consumers and re-imagine the evolving role of the IT department as a whole.”
The event will focus on nine-role-based tracks and will feature a special programme for CIOs. “One of the first rules associated with the future is that we have to work smarter, not harder,” said Mark McDonald, general vice president at Gartner Executive Programs. “We are facing a significant refocus of the role of the CIO. The key factor determining the success of the CIO will become the capability of impacting revenue or service.”
There will be two mastermind keynote interviews with:
- Gerry Pennell
Chief Information Officer, London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games
- PETER AYLIFFE and STEVE CHAMBERS
President and CEO, and Executive Vice President and CIO, Visa Europe
There will be CIO luncheons with speakers including:
- Phil Pavitt
CIO and Director General of Change, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
- JOHANTHAN ZITTRAIN
Professor of Law, Harvard Law School, and co-founder of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society
The event will feature an ITxpo show floor where technology and service providers will demonstrate their latest products and services where they'll learn about the latest cutting-edge solutions — from the best-of-breed providers and up-and-comers.
