Hygienic safety valve available with ASME approval

(PresseBox) (Ludwigsburg, )
The valve specialist Goetze offers customers a hygiene safety valve that is ASME-certified. The Series 4000 safety valve is now available with the corresponding certification. The extended certification makes the valve even more versatile in applications where particularly high requirements must be met with regard to the cleanability of surfaces in contact with the medium.

With the additional certification of the "American Society of Mechanical Engineers", the range of applications is extended. The Series 4000 safety valves can now also be installed in ASME-certified plants. In addition, their use in the US market is unrestricted.

Particularly for applications in the medical or pharmaceutical sector, the requirements for the manufacture and cleanability of the valves are very high. As with the safety valve 4000, contamination can be avoided by not allowing nests and dead spaces. For this purpose, the area of the spring chamber is separated from the media chamber by an elastomer diaphragm. The media chamber itself can be opened with the aid of the clamp connections. This ensures simple and professional cleaning.

However, despite the possibility of cleaning, safety comes first. The valve is secured against unauthorised adjustment by a visible sealing disc pressed into the cap. This means that the usual sealing wire, which is not easy to clean, can be dispensed with. This allows simple assembly or disassembly with standard tools without any changes or effects on the set pressure of the valve. The set pressure can vary between 0.4 and 16 bar.

Cleaning procedure

In order to ensure a constant hygienic status during the entire service life of the valve, cleaning and, if necessary, disinfection work must be carried out at specified intervals. Valve lifting for the purpose of CIP or SIP cleaning is only possible in tGFP version with pneumatic lifting or tGFL version with lifting lever. In addition to CIP/SIP cleaning, it is also possible to partially dismantle the valve for cleaning purposes. After the unpressurised state has been established, the valve clamp of the connection point between the body and the spring housing can be released. Finally, the complete valve bonnet can be pulled out of the body. Now all surfaces that have come into contact with the medium can be professionally cleaned or disinfected. In the last step, the safety valve must be reassembled as explained above and is ready for use again without resetting the set pressure.
