euroLITE's growth rates are an indication that lightweight construction is among the growth markets of the coming years. The international specialist trade fair for lightweight design recorded almost a 51 percent increase in exhibitors in 2008, and 50 percent of the exhibition area for the second euroLITE has already been filled for the coming event. Compared with the same period in the previous year, this represents a plus of around 110 percent. The successful development of the lightweight construction specialist trade fair is due in no small measure to the first-class specialist qualifications and decision-making authority of its visitors: "We encountered a very interested specialist audience here. The visitors had gathered information in advance of the trade fair, came with concrete questions and wanted to see examples of how products could be used. Participating in the trade fair has paid off for us and we will be there again next year", reports Philipp Zach, Project Manager of Alulight International GmbH, Ranshofen. Plus, the exhibitor list already includes companies such as Alcan Composites, alphacam, Carbo Tech Composites, Fronius, Illichmann Aluminium, C. F. Maier, Tripan Leichtbauteile Wimmer and Netzwerk Carbon Composites e.V.
End-to-end representation of the lightweight design process chain
In addition to the broad range of different materials for lightweight construction, the exhibition portfolio covers tools for construction and simulation, prototype and model building, manufacturing technologies, serial production of lightweight components, bonding and connection technologies, surface treatment, and systems and processes for component tests, services and research. This representative offering tailored exclusively to lightweight construction makes euroLITE a unique platform for presentation, information and procurement. "euroLITE allows design engineers, development engineers, designers, production managers, purchasers and management decision-makers to make contacts in a targeted and efficient manner, whether they are from the automotive (road and rail), aerospace, mechanical engineering, boat and yacht construction, sports equipment and leisure industries, or many of the other sectors in which every gramme counts", says Wieland Kniffka, a manager at H & K Messe GmbH & Co. KG, the organiser of euroLITE.
"Joins and Connections" and "Surface Technology" exhibitions
Innovative bonding and connection technologies allow lightweight components to be built that significantly save on material and weight, and yet are strong, exhibit distinct crash behaviour and have a long service life. The euroLITE "Joins and Connections" exhibition shows the wide variety of possible solutions for all types of industry.
Pioneering lightweight designs often consist of multiple material combinations which require more sophisticated processes and new coating systems. The exhibition spectrum covers electroplating, thin film and plasma technology, mechanical, thermal and chemical processes, nanotechnology, coating technology and special processes.
Bionic Village – looking to nature for lightweight construction solutions
At euroLITE 2009 a Bionic Village will be erected in cooperation with the International Bionics Centre – Foundation for Bionics (IBZ), the Bionics Competence Network BIOKON e.V., the Saarland Bionics Competence Network BEN (Bionic Engineering Network) and the Institute for Materials Research II, Biomechanics department of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. Companies and institutes will be presenting innovative products and new research findings here.
euroLITE lightweight construction forum
As at previous events, there will be a top-class three-day convention on the topics of design, lightweight construction materials and manufacturing technologies at euroLITE 2009. It will be organised under the leadership of Professor Dr.-Ing. Otto Huber of the Landshut Lightweight Construction Cluster. With as many as 100 or more listeners at each presentation, the lightweight construction forums of previous events were among the real attractions.
euroSUPPLY trade fair – the perfect accompaniment
euroSUPPLY, the first specialist trade fair for the suppliers' market in central and southern Europe, will be held at the Salzburg Exhibition Centre (Messezentrum Salzburg) at the same time as the third euroLITE trade fair. Thanks to the complementary effect of euroLITE and euroSUPPLY, the organisers are expecting valuable synergy effects for exhibitors and visitors.
