"Rocket-Tips" boost throughput and productivity for STAR users

HAMILTON introduces new 4:1 probe disposable tips for using a CO-RE 384 probe head as a CO-RE 96 probe head.

(PresseBox) (Bonaduz, )
Hamilton now offers a simple and cost-effective way for Microlab STAR users to work with the 96 and 384 formats simultaneously without having to choose between expensive multiple multiprobe-heads or reduce throughput when working with only a 96-probe head. To avoid complicated head exchanges or the need for two separate multiprobe heads, HAMILTON offers the new 4:1 probe disposable tips ("Rocket-Tips"), which effectively and simply convert a 384-probe head into 96-probes on-the-fly. These conductive tips offer capacitive liquid-level detection and extend the pipetting volume-range of the 384-probe head up to 300µl.

The multiprobe head uses HAMILTON's compression induced o-ring expansion (CO-RE) technology, which requires no vertical force to attach tips (384 and Rocket), allowing for multiple pick-up/eject cycles without loosing pipetting precision. Add to this row-, column-wise and even single tip-pick up, HAMILTON's new CO-RE 384 mulitiprobe head is the most flexible pipetting tool for any STAR Line workstation.

Offerring the possibility to seamlessly change between 96 and 384-well format, the new CO-RE 384-probe head is ideal for throughput demanding applications like compound handling and serial dilution. The head can also be combined with up to 16 independent pipetting channels (1 and 5 ml) and/or any of HAMILTON's multiprobe heads (96 or nano) on one or two arms in the same system. Flexibility abounds with the Microlab STARline of automated liquid handlers.

HAMILTON Robotics GmbH

With the invention of the Microliter Syringe Clark Hamilton founded a company in 1947 that is the synonym for precision liquid handling ever since. The Microlab STAR Line revolutionized automated liquid handling with innovations like completely independent, assymetrical spreadable pipetting channels, "Dual Liquid Level Detection" and "Monitored Air Displacement" for highest process safety and superior pipetting results.

HAMILTON's ambition is to establish itself as the leading company in automated liquid handling for life sciences - bringing our customers "Innovation for Automation".
