- LED luminaire and complementary bench mark the launch of a completely new collection from January 2015 for the design of urban spaces
- DALVIK luminaire is designed for versatile application in streets, pathways and places
- The new product received the "Iconic Awards 2014 - Winner" award and the international design prize Baden-Württemberg "Focus Silver 2014" even before its market launch in January 2015
With the newly developed DALVIK LED outdoor luminaire Hess GmbH Licht + Form, an internationally leading manufacturer of designed outdoor luminaires and site furnishings based in Villingen-Schwenningen (Germany), presents as part of its innovations campaign another entirely new collection of luminaires and site furnishings for the design of urban spaces.
In a first step, the DALVIK LED luminaire and a complementary bench will be available from January 2015. Thus Hess starts with a real highlight in the new year.
As premium manufacturer of outdoor luminaires and site furnishings, Hess combines traditional craftsmanship with modern lighting technology and high design requirements. The new DALVIK fits seamlessly into this philosophy.
Designed for versatile application in streets, pathways and places, the pole-mounted luminaire DALVIK fulfils a wide range of technical lighting requirements and allows for a uniform design in all urban applications. Thanks to its slim lines and its streamlined design, DALVIK integrates smoothly into modern as well as historical environments.
The DALVIK stands out for its versatility, flexibility, and uniformity.
The sophisticated design concept is expressed in the very compact construction of the pole-mounted luminaire: DALVIK is comprised of a flat, rectangular luminaire head made of cast-aluminium with two joints running continuously around it as the basic module and variable pole adapters for different pole diameters. Optionally, the luminaire housing is available with a continuous design bracket made of brushed stainless steel.
Diverse pole connections and various lighting technology fitting options ensure a particularly wide application range for the new pole-mounted luminaire: Thanks to the variable adapters, the luminaire head can be mounted to Hess poles with diameters ranging from 60 - 230 mm. In combination with the CITY ELEMENTS by Hess, several fittings at different positions are possible. This way various light source heights and lighting functions can be combined using one pole.
DALVIK is also optimally suited for third-party poles thanks to its various adapters. Using the appropriate adapter the luminaire head can be fitted to existing poles, which makes the new DALVIK luminaire the perfect choice for refurbishing existing lighting systems.
The luminaire head with a downward pointing light outlet can be equipped with one to three LEVO Q modules by Hess, each providing a system capacity of 34 watts per module. The modules are available with two optics options - rotationally symmetrical or asymmetrical. The inserted cover and the printed luminaire glass made of single-pane safety glass (ESG) ensure the optimum light control. The simple maintenance concept allows for quick and easy replacing of the LED modules screwed on from above. The available light colours are 3000 K, 4000 K, and 5600 K.
For needs-based control of the light, the DAVLIK luminaire can be connected to various control systems, for example the dimming system DIMPro by Hess.
This intelligent control system allows for an individually adaptable control of the light intensity for streets, pathways, and places. This results in further high energy savings that benefit cities, towns and communities in the long-term.
DALVIK received two design awards
Even before the market launch, the DALVIK pole-mounted luminaire received two renowned design awards. As part of the international design competition Iconic Awards, DALVIK was proclaimed the "Iconic Awards 2014 - Winner" in the "Product / Building Technology" category for its outstanding design.
The expert jury of this year's international design prize Baden-Württemberg awarded another prize, the "Focus Silver 2014". This prize can be seen as an acknowledgement of the high quality of the product development by international standards.
Both prizes acknowledge the independent expression of design typical for Hess and the high-quality finish of the new pole-mounted luminaire.
Site furnishings as perfect complement
The DALVIK luminaire family is complemented by matching aluminium benches with high-quality Kambala wood slats. The benches are also available from January 2015. In the coming months, a successive expansion of this product family is planned. This way Hess provides planners and architects with another harmonising combination of luminaires and site furnishings for holistic concepts when designing open spaces and cities, reflecting the company's motto "We design cities".
