IDS now offers its GigE uEye CP industrial cameras with the new 1.3 megapixel global shutter CMOS sensor by e2v. The UI-5240CP model combines the advantages of the sensors, such as high light sensitivity and fast frame rate, with the features of the GigE interface and a design consistent with industry applications. These include a robust magnesium housing, screw-on connectors and optically isolated inputs and outputs. Thanks to Power over Ethernet (PoE), the camera is supplied with electricity via the data cable, making an additional power cable obsolete.
As an alternative to supply via PoE, the camera can still be supplied with a 12-24 V external power source. At just 29 x 29 x 41 mm, the GigE uEye CP is one of the smallest industrial cameras to feature the GigE interface and PoE technology. You get the same plug-and-play convenience as USB models, but based on the Gigabit Ethernet interface it is considerably more powerful and enables the use of a considerably longer connecting cable of up to 100 m.
The new model line with the e2v sensor is impressive not only because of the light sensitivity and color fidelity that is comparable to what one expects from CCD sensors, but above all because of the very fast frame rate. The camera can capture up to 50 frames per second. Furthermore, a multiple AOI mode with up to four ‘areas of interests’ and a line scan mode are available; the latter enables operation as a line scan camera with a horizontal resolution of 1,280 pixels at up to 64 kHz. Available in monochrome and color versions, the sensor’s global shutter makes it suitable for use with moving objects as well.
