Mr. Avila-Marco succeeds Spencer Greene who has taken on a new assignment, serving as the company's senior vice president of customer advocacy. After leading corporate development for the past two years, Mr. Greene will now focus his exclusive attention on customers' business and networking requirements, ensuring that Juniper continues to address these rapidly evolving requirements both efficiently and effectively.
Mr. Avila-Marco, 39, served in a series of increasingly strategic assignments over the course of his 14 year tenure at Scientific-Atlanta, a Cisco Systems, Inc. company. Most recently Mr. Avila-Marco served as the vice president of corporate strategic planning, with responsibility for leading all activities related to defining, communicating and implementing corporate strategy. Prior to joining Scientific-Atlanta, Mr. Avila-Marco served for several years in a series diverse roles in the cable industry in Spain. Mr. Avila-Marco earned a Bachelor's degree in telecommunications engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and an M.B.A. from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
